TideTrade as an altFINS alternative

If you are searching for an alternative to altFINS, here is what TideTrade is, what it is not, and how the two differ on the things that matter when you choose a crypto screener. TideTrade is not a review site and has no connection with altFINS; the altFINS column repeats what its own public pages said when we read them on 22 October 2026, nothing more.

In one paragraph. altFINS, according to its website, is a platform for finding trade ideas: a screener with more than a hundred preset filters, AI chart patterns, analyst calls, research picks, courses and a way to execute on connected exchanges. TideTrade is the opposite bet. It applies one published rule, the Supertrend indicator with period 10 and multiplier 3, to 140 crypto assets on completed daily and weekly candles, shows each as tide in, slack water or tide out, writes every flip to a ledger nobody can edit, and publishes the study that tested the rule, losing trips included. If you want to choose among many signals, altFINS gives you more to choose from. If you want one rule and the record of what it did, that is TideTrade.

What altFINS has that TideTrade does not

Breadth. Thousands of coins against 140; indicators you can combine into your own screens; chart-pattern detection on intra-day intervals; analysts' write-ups and coin picks; courses; news; a portfolio you can trade from through connected exchanges. If those are what you want, altFINS is built for them and TideTrade is not. TideTrade has no custom screens, no patterns, no picks, no targets, no execution and no course, on purpose: everything it leaves out is a decision it would be handing back to you.

What TideTrade has that altFINS does not show

  • One rule, in public. The line is Supertrend(10, 3), published, versioned and hashed. There is nothing to interpret and nothing proprietary; the scanner shows all 140 assets on it at once.
  • A record that cannot be edited. Every flip since the rule went live, and every replayed flip before that, sits on the ledger with days held and the result to the next flip. A daily hash lets anyone check nothing changed; corrections are disclosed, never applied.
  • Evidence fixed before the result. The study was pre-registered. 58% of its round trips lost money and its longest losing run was 17; the finding is smaller falls, not higher returns, and it says so.
  • Completed candles only. No forming-candle flips, no 15-minute patterns. The next day is fine: the study measured acting a day late at about a point of return and three of drawdown over seven years.
  • How to act, on one page. The Tide Rules: hold only what is above its line, act on flips the next day, do nothing new in slack water, equal weight across what is in up to ten positions, never borrow.

Four questions to ask of any crypto screener

  1. How many signals does it give you, and who chooses between them? A hundred screens and patterns put the decision back on you. One rule applied the same way takes it away, which is the point of a rule.
  2. Can you see what every past signal did, losers included? Success rates are a claim until the losing signals are on the same public list as the winning ones.
  3. Does it read completed candles or forming ones? Intra-day patterns look fast; on TideTrade's own data about half of the flips seen on a forming candle reverse before it ends.
  4. What does it cost in total, and what does it earn from you? Subscriptions, courses, and exchange or broker referrals all count. A platform paid by the exchanges it connects you to has a view on how often you trade.

Questions people ask

Is TideTrade an alternative to altFINS?
For the trend part, yes. TideTrade shows one published rule, Supertrend(10, 3), on 140 crypto assets on completed candles and keeps every flip on a public ledger. altFINS, according to its website, is a platform for finding trade ideas: a screener with 160+ preset filters, AI chart patterns, analyst calls, research picks, courses and exchange execution. TideTrade sells none of those.
What is the main difference between TideTrade and altFINS?
The number of signals and who chooses between them. altFINS offers many screens, patterns and picks and leaves the choice to you; TideTrade applies one rule the same way to every asset and publishes the record of what it did, losing trips included, with a pre-registered study behind it.
Does TideTrade have a crypto screener?
The scanner shows all 140 assets at once with their state, how far each sits from its line in percent and in ATR, and when it last flipped, with filters for tide in, slack water or tide out, the Core and Extended tiers, daily or weekly candles, and flips within a chosen period. It has no custom indicator screens: there is one rule.
Does TideTrade detect chart patterns or give price targets?
No. It draws one line under or over price and reports which side the close is on. No patterns, no picks, no targets, no forecasts: it is decision support for holding or not holding, not a source of trade ideas.
Which is cheaper, TideTrade or altFINS?
altFINS, on its website when read on 22 October 2026, has a free plan and paid plans from $8 a month on promotion, listed at $20, with higher tiers. TideTrade is free for your holdings against their lines and a Sunday digest, and Pro is $25 a month or $250 a year for alerts the night a flip happens, whole-universe alerts, unlimited wallets and API keys. They buy different things: breadth on one side, one rule and its record on the other.
Can either tool guarantee profits?
No. In TideTrade's study 58% of round trips lost money and the longest run of losing trips was 17; the finding was smaller falls than holding, with a similar return overall and a lower one in recent years. altFINS's success-rate and upside figures are its own claims. Cryptoassets can lose most of their value.

TideTrade is decision support, not financial advice. Cryptoassets are high-risk; trend rules lose money in sideways markets and past states do not predict future prices. See the disclaimer. altFINS is a trademark of its owner. TideTrade has no affiliation, endorsement or partnership with altFINS; the descriptions above come from altfins.com as read on 22 October 2026 and may be out of date.

Decision support, not financial advice. TideTrade shows the mechanical state of a published trend rule — Rule v1, Supertrend(10, 3) — on historical prices. It does not know your situation, it will be wrong often in sideways markets, and past states do not predict future prices. You decide; your money never leaves your hands.
